When Kitt disappears, the desperate search to find him brings FLAG up against a robotics scientist, long thought dead. Kitt is found, having been ripped out of the shell of the car, and given a new body, one based on that of a human. Despite the advantages his friends can see, Kitt begs them to return him to the only home he has ever known, and the only existence he knows how to deal with.
Having spent just over a year infultrating a gang of men determined to keep all those they consider too good for society away from the world, Michael has to make a difficult choice. The gang's leader decides that Michael's final display of loyalty must involve him putting six bullets through Kitt's dash board. This is one loyalty test that the FLAG resources cannot help with.

Several years later, and the new team of FLAG operatives realize that one of their vehicles may not truely belong to them.

Prologue: (in flashback)
Two people in a hospital, from the description one of them is obviously Bonnie, but is not mentioned by name. They are both inferring that Michael is dying, but still, no names are mentioned. Bonnie is suggesting transferring his conciousness into a computer, using new equipment just developed, but untested. The other person agrees, saying they have nothing lose, and that 'his partner' would also die if they lost Michael.

Several Years Later: (present)
TKR, or some varient of TKR, have an AI vehicle on thier team called 'Midnight' - a dark blue sports car (possibly a Corvette or a Camero) - Midnight is always displaying knowledge of humans that he should not have as an AI, and knows things about FLAG history that he shouldn't know. One day, a black TransAm (Kitt, obviously) shows up, and addresses Midnight as 'Michael', saying that he has been searching for him for a long time.
