Recollections
By Tomy

Stopping at the railing across from the warehouse, Kitt stood with one foot
braced against the low cement wall that supported the metal beams.  Michael
was with Bonnie and Justin having some new feature installed in the car.
For the moment it didn't hold any interest for Kitt.  It had been quite some
time since he had stood in this spot, watching the tankers drift along the
water in the distance, occasionally hearing their low call.

Nick and Karr had just left, called away by another mysterious client,
leaving Kitt alone with his thoughts.  He didn't get much time to himself,
nor did he feel the need often.  Yet standing alone, feeling the gentle
pressure of his brother, hearing the echoes of his lover's conversation, he
felt a contentment he had not experienced in sometime.

It was here that he had made the final decision to move from the car.
With all the heartache and fussing beforehand, he was ever so grateful to
those that had listened to his fears and had patiently given him advice.

He still remembered the shy smile on Michael's face when he had opened
his eyes again for the first time.  Swan had left them alone in her lab,
knowing that all was well and Kitt would 'awaken' once he was ready.
Michael was sitting on the edge of the workbench in the diagnostic area.
He clearly saw the happy tears in Michael's eyes as he sat up. It had been
so long since they had touched on a physical level.  Sure Michael had
touched the car, caressed his skin, but he had not been able to return the
gesture.  He had reached out with a shaking hand, placing it against
Michael's cheek, surprised as the single tear rolled over his palm.  Slowly,
regaining the feel for the android body, Kitt had shifted to hang his legs
over the edge, then gathered his lover into his arms and held him, smiling,
his own emotions rising to the top as Michael, gently at first, slid his
arms around Kitt's waist, then tightened the embrace.

To this day he had no recollection of how long they sat holding each
other, reveling in having that ability once more.

Dropping to lean his elbows on the railing, as the wind tugged at his
shirt and blew his hair into his face, Kitt could still feel Michael's arms
around him, holding him, loving him.  He could still feel the warmth of
Michael's body against him, the strength of the arms tightly wrapped around
him that day.  Smiling at the memory, he sent a wave of love across the
link.

He felt Michael pause, the quick surprise that touched his mind before
the tenderness that followed.
