“Red means stop. Remove your foot from the accelerator. Bring the car to a complete halt.

It does not mean hedge your bets. It does not mean check the sat image to see if you need to stop. Or speed up to avoid a collision.

Amber means slow down and bring the vehicle to rest. It does not mean stamp on the accelerator and make it through before the light turns red!

Green incidentally means proceed, if it is safe to do so, and at the legal limit not double it just because you can.”
